Does HPV positive mean cervical cancer?
.png)
Being HPV positive does not mean you will get cervical cancer. For example, if a patient is infected with type 16 or type 18, which causes cervical cancer, the test result is positive, but it does not mean that you have already developed cervical cancer. It just means that you are more likely to develop precancerous lesions. Close monitoring can prevent it from developing into cervical cancer.
